PC PROBLEMS
Here is a list of general
problem areas.
Click on a problem to find a specific solution.
Problems:
Computer Is Unable To Read
The CD Properly Or At All.
1. Computer does not read
the disc at all or disc shows up as an audio-only CD
- Verify that you actually
do have a CDEXTRA disc and that is a Windows or hybrid disc.
- Make sure the disc is not
dirty or scratched.
- Make sure you have the right
CD-ROM driver to read multi-session discs.
You can also check out the Corel
Enhanced Music Advisor which may help determine whether your drive
is capable of reading CDEXTRAs.
- Your CD-ROM drive may not
be 100% multi-session compatible. Contact your CD-ROM drive manufacturer
to find out whether there is a software upgrade for your drive.
2. After launching the title
the following message is displayed : CD is either not up to speed or not
inserted.
- Make sure you have inserted
the CDEXTRA in your CD-ROM drive. Note: Sometimes it may take a few
seconds for the computer to read the CD.
3. After launching the title,
a dialog box appears with a message asking "Where is filename",
where filename is the name of a specific file.
- Make sure you have inserted
the correct disc in the CD-ROM drive.
Sound Difficulties
1. No sound is heard at all
- Verify that your volume
is turned up.
- If you use external speakers
verify that they are plugged in, properly connected, turned on and that
the volume is turned up.
- Make sure Quicktime for
Windows version 2.0.3 or higher is installed.
- Make sure you have a Sound-Blaster-compatible
sound card that can handle 8-bit, 22 khz sound.
- Try to see if you can play
sound through any other application. Check sounds in control panels.
2. No CD audio is heard
- Make sure the CD volume
is turned up. If you have a volume control on the CD-ROM drive, check
that is turned up.
- Verify that the volume is
turned up in your CD-player software.
3. Sound drops out or skips
- Make sure the disc is not
scratched or dirty.
- Quit all other applications,
turn off screen savers log off of any network.
- Make sure the CDEXTRA application
was launched from the hard drive using the icon installed by the setup
procedure, and that the CD in inserted in the CD-ROM drive.
Video Playback Difficulties
1. No video plays at all
- Make sure Quicktime for
Windows version 2.0.3 or higher is installed.
2. Video stutters, drops out
or skips
- Make sure the disc is not
scratched or dirty.
- Quit all other applications,
turn off screen savers log off of any network.
- Make sure you are running
the CDEXTRA application that was installed on the hard drive during
the set-up procedure.
Other
1. The CDEXTRA runs very slow,
stutters, stops, crashes
- Quit all other applications,
turn off screen savers log off of any network.
- Make sure you are running
the CDEXTRA application that was installed on the hard drive during
the set-up procedure.
- Make sure you have enough
free memory for the CDEXTRA application to run.
2. The audio portion of the
CD does not play in a CD player
- If your CD player is unable
to play the audio portion of your CDEXTRA disc, consult your manufacturer.
Make sure you have the proper CD-ROM driver
for your CD-ROM. Since CDEXTRA is designed to work on 100% of audio
CD players we want to know if you are having problems with playback.

3. The audio portion of the
CD does not play in the computer
- Make sure you have the right
CD-ROM driver to read multi-session discs.

- Make sure sound is configured
correctly in control panels.
- See sound
difficulties above.
4. Some images are not displayed
properly (missing parts, warped colors)
- Make sure your monitor is
set to 256 colors (8 bit color-depth). You can check in control panels
- display.
- Note: if a screen saver
becomes active while your CDEXTRA is playing, it may affect the colors
on the screen. To avoid this, simply disable the screen saver before
playing your CDEXTRA.
