I assume you are using the player that is on the disc. If this is true quit out of it. Use the cdplayer that comes with your system found under the apple menu. Using the cdplayer that comes with the mac system should eliminate your problems. The audio might get cut off opening different applications but you can resume to use it once your applications are open unless you are saving to the disc.
Windows systems usually have a problem with drivers
